The Department of Public Works and infrastructure (DPWI) invites you to comment on the draft Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Amendment Bill.

The Bill seeks to amend the Construction Industry Development Board Act, 2000, so as to:
• insert new and amend certain definitions;
• provide a clear delineation between the Board as regulator and its oversight body, the Council;
• provide for the qualifications of members of Council;
• provide for the enforcement powers of the Board;
• provide for transformation and development in the construction industry;
• extend the application of the register of contractors to procurement in the private sector;
• provide for a register of professional service providers;
• further provide for the enforcement of the Act;
• empower the Minister to make regulations prescribing the requirements for registration of professional service providers, application fees and categories of registration of service providers;
• provide for offences and penalties; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
