SPARK - Igniting local action

SPARK - Igniting local action : DECEMBER 2011 Issue 2
SPARK - Igniting local action : OCTOBER 2011 Issue 1

This quarterly newsletter features case studies that show how civil society – communities and their organisations – and local government – councillors and officials – can work together to foster democracy and development in their areas.

The case studies can be replicated and provide contact details and links to additional resources, where available.

The case studies have been drawn from a wide variety of sources. These include civil society organisations, reports and oversight visits by parliamentary committees, from community development workers and through local government networks.

They show successful approaches that bring together a wide range of possible partners – ward councillors, civil society organisations, such as ward forums, community groups clustered around sport, welfare and other issues, NGOs, local business, community development workers, provincial and national departments and others.
