Comment: Labour Brokering in South Africa

In line with Parliament's core objective of facilitating public participation and involvement in legislative processes, the Portfolio Committee on Labour will host public hearings on Labour Brokering on Tuesday, 25 and Wednesday, 26 August 2009. The purpose of these public hearings is to look at the challenges the country is faced with, with regard to labour brokers which are not necessarily operating in accordance with labour law prescripts as employment agencies, and how Government can regulate labour brokering in South Africa.

Written comments can be emailed to the Committee Secretary: Ms A Kakaza at akakaza@parliament.gov.za by no later than 21 August 2009. Stakeholders interested in making verbal submissions are also requested to contact the office by no later than Friday, 21 August 2009.
