COMMITTEE OVERSIGHT VISIT REPORTS: ADOPTION; ELECTION OF A CHAIRPERSON

SUMMARY
The Committee elected a new Chairperson, Ms T Tshivhase (ANC).  The Committee discussed the invitations that were received from the Departments of Arts and Culture and Foreign Affairs, as well as an invitation to celebrate Heritage Day in Kwazulu-Natal from King Goodwill Zwelithini Zulu and the provincial government.

The Committee adopted its Reports on oversight visits to the Afrikaans Taal Museum and the Iziko Museum, with amendments

MINUTES
Invitations received by Committee
The Committee considered at length various invitations received from the Departments of Arts and Culture and Foreign Affairs, such as invitations to National Language Day ceremonies.

Election of Chairperson
The Committee Secretary, Ms Bulelwa Madikane, stated that in terms of Section 1.31 of the rules in the National Assembly, the Portfolio Committee will have to elect a new Chairperson.

Mr R Sonto (ANC) nominated Ms T Tshivhase (ANC), and Mr G Lekgetho (ANC) seconded the nomination.

Ms Tshivhase was elected the new Chairperson of the Committee.

Ms Tshivhase thanked the Members.

Committee Reports on Oversight visits
The Committee passed its Reports on the oversight visits to Afrikaans Taal Museum and the Iziko Museum, with amendments.

The Chairperson thanked the Members and adjourned the meeting.
