SUMMARY

The Chairperson stated that the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) requested to meet with the Public Services Commission (PCS) prior to the hearing, and as such the meeting needed to be rescheduled to a later date. It was emphasized that this occurrence in no way reflected on the readiness of the PSC for the hearings.

MINUTES
The Chairperson stated that due to the Department of Public Service and Administration requested to meet with the Public Services Commission (PCS) prior to the hearing, and the request was agreed to. There was thus no point in having a partial meeting,. He proposed that the PSC’s intended submission not be made at that time. The Chairperson asked Mr K Minnie (DA) whether he was satisfied.

Mr Minnie replied that he was not, but that there was nothing that could be done.

Mr M Baloyi (ANC) contextualised the situation by stating that the PSC was not unprepared. He explained that the Committee received a request from the DPSA for an opportunity to interact with the PSC on the Public Services Amendment Bill. The Committee required a resolution to the issue as quickly as possible.

The meeting was adjourned.
