IMMIGRATION AMENDMENT BILL: DELIBERATION AND FINALISATION

SUMMARY
The Department of Home Affairs recapped on the significant amendments contained in the Immigration Amendment Bill, which would amend the Immigration Act. The Bill was then adopted by the committee without any amendments. In other business, the Committee adopted its minutes of a previous meeting.

MINUTES
Mr B Tolo (ANC, Mpumalanga) was appointed as Acting Chairperson.

Immigration Amendment Bill
The Acting Chair asked the Department of Home Affairs to do a recap and summary of the major highlights of the Bill.

Ms Jayshree Naidoo, Department of Home Affairs Chief Director: Legal Services, replied that the significant amendments were captured in Clauses 1 to 9 of the Bill, which she proceeded to read through to the Committee.
 
The Committee then considered the Bill clause by clause, checking for any errors. No amendments were proposed by Members.

Adoption of Bill
The Members adopted the Bill, without amendments. It was signed by the Acting Chair on behalf of the Committee.

Adoption of minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting of the Committee was adopted without amendments.

The meeting was adjourned.
