REPORT OF THE
PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SERVICE AND ADMINISTRATION ON THE NOMINATIONS OF
NATIONAL PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSIONERS, AS ADOPTED ON THE 15 JUNE 2011.
Parliament is obligated in terms of the Constitution of
the
The Portfolio Committee appointed a multi-party sub-Committee
to conduct the short-listing and interviews of applicants. The sub-Committee
consisted of the following members from their respective Parties:
Hon. J.C. Moloi-Moropa (ANC), Hon. L Suka (ANC), Hon. MC
Mohale (ANC), Hon. A Gaum (ANC), Hon. H Van Schalkwyk (DA) and Hon. CT Msimang
(IFP).
Two hundred and twenty-seven applications were
received. Twelve candidates were short-listed. Mrs Mabandla was short-listed,
but subsequently withdrew her application. The following 11 candidates were
interviewed on the 07 and 08 June 2011:
The sub-Committee developed standard questions that
were put to all candidates. The candidates were scored accordingly on a
score-sheet that the sub-Committee had developed. Due consideration was given to
candidates’ experience, qualifications, gender, age, knowledge of the Public Service
and the Public Service Commission. The sub-Committee reported back to the
Portfolio Committee on the outcome of the interviews, on the 15 June 2011.
After consideration of the sub-committee’s report, the
Portfolio Committee recommends the following candidates for nomination as
National Public Service Commissioners:

Adv. R.K. Sizani
2.
Mrs. C Nzimande
3.
Mrs. R Issel
In the event that these candidates are not available
to serve on the National Public Service Commission, the Committee recommends that
the following candidates be considered for appointment, in the order in which they
appear below:

Mrs. L Sizani
5.
Mr. G Mokate
