Report of the Portfolio Committee on Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs on Budget Vote 29: Provincial and Local Government, dated 18 June 2009:

The Portfolio Committee on Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, having considered Budget Vote 29: Provincial and Local Government, reports that it has concluded its deliberations thereon.

The Committee further acknowledges that follow-up engagements are required with the Department and its entities.

This is necessary to enhance the understanding of the operations of the newly formed Department and strengthen the oversight capacity of the committee to deal with matters in this regard.

The Committee agreed to a workshop with the Department and its entities as an important mechanism to provide the in-depth details required by Members.

The Committee recommends that Vote 29 be passed.
