Comments to the National Environmental Management Amendment Bill (36- 2007)

For Attn, of. Ms, Albertina Kakaza

Please take my Objection and Comments on the Environmental Management Amendment Bill of the third August 2007 as interested party and stakeholder:

To allow the Minister of Minerals and Energy to control and to evaluate in future the environmental studies and investigations as so called

'Competent Authority', must be strictly to objected as the Minister is not able to control himself. By the way, nobody can control objectively himself.

Not in South Africa and not elsewhere,

The Evaluation of the environmental impact and consequences must be completely in hands of environmental national or provincial departments and independent environmental experts.

The responsibility and the task of the DME and the Minister is to coordinate and organize mining and the availability of Energy and not to investigate and to evaluate environmental impacts and consequences. They would run immediately into severe conflicts of interests.

Your's faithfully
