SOUTH AFRICAN FOOTBALL PLAYERS UNION (SAFPU)
BACKGROUND on the SAFPU
The South African Football Players Union is a registered not-for-profit
organization that has been in existence since 1997.
The organization represents the interests of football players and its key focus
is the development of football in South Africa.
SAFPU has international support from the federation of the International
Professional Footballers (Fifpro).
Fifpro is the mother body for the development of football worldwide and was initiated
by five countries; he Netherlands, Italy, France, England and Scotland.

BRIAN BALOYI -President
The president of the South African Football Players Union has 21 Bafana
Bafana caps, 9 National under 23 caps, 5 National under 20 caps, 2001 African
cup winner, 2000 Bob Save bowl winner, 1994 and 1998 Rothmans cup winner, 2001
and 2003 Coca Cola cup winner, BP top 8 cup winner, 2003/4 league winner with
347 PSL appearances by 07/05/2005.
PETER NDLOVU
1st Deputy President
Nicknamed "Bulawayo Express", Mr. Peter Ndlovu hails from
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. He made his first professional debut back in 1991 playing
for Coventry City in 1991 as a substitute. Since then He played for the
Zimbabwean National team for which he scored the first goal in 1991 at the
Africa Nations Cup Qualifier game played against Malawi. His professional
career includes playing for clubs such as Coventry City (England), Birmingham
City (England), Huddersfield Town (England), Sheffield United (England). He
currently is captain of the Zimbabwean National team while playing for Mamelodi
Sundowns.
HAREAIPHA "SIMBA" MARUMO _2nd Deputy
President
A former MEDUNSA Student, Mr. Marumo was born in a small town of Vigirnia
in the Freestate. He went on to play for amateur clubs such as Randa Spears and
Harmony in his youth were he was found and was given a chance to debut in the
professional league. He has represented South Africa in the World Student's
games in Italy in 1991. He has since played for professional club such as
Sundowns FC, Septemyri FC, Chernomo Retz FC. He is currently playing for Moroka
Swallows FC as a Senior player. He has 7 caps under his wing.
BRIAN SEBAPOLE - Treasurer
Mr. Sebapole has played for both national and international clubs. The
clubs include Jomo Cosmos FC from 1995-1998, San Hosei Clash V.S.A F.C (USA)
from 1998-1999, Hoandao F.C 1999-2000 China A League. Jomo Cosmos F.C from
2000-2005 NSL League. Pretoria University F.C 2004-2006.
In 1996, he was a runner up for the BOB Save Superbowl. He subsequently joined
the Bafana Bafana Squad playing in AFCON at Bakina Faso to name afew
tournaments. He was selected as Player - coach for Pretoria University F.C. in 2005
for which he was a Captain since 2004.
SECRETARIAT
SIPHO NDZUZO -Secretary General
Holds 3 Bafana Bafana caps, 1996 Coca Cola cup winner with Bush Bucks, 2003
ABSA cup runner-up with Ajax Cape Town. He has played for the the likes of
Sundowns and captained Manning Rangers for three years from 2000 to 2003. He
has also had the opportunity of playing in the student's world games of 1997 in
Italy. Mr. Ndzuzo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the
University of Transkei, a Sports management diploma from Damelin. He is
currently Studying towards and Honours degree in Sports Management at the
University of Johannesburg.
THULAGANYO GAOSHUBELWE -Deputy General Secretary
Mr. Gaoshubelwe has played in both the Mvela League and the PSL. The clubs
that he's played for include Silver Stars, Bush Bucks, Classic, Mabopane Young
Masters, Amazulu / Zulu Royals, Hellenic and Dangerous Strickers. He had the
honour of representing South Africa in the Student's World Games held in Japan.
Mr Gaoshubelwe hold a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of
Bophuthatswana.
