AMENDMENTS PROPOSED TO THE EDUCATION LAWS AMENDMENT BILL [B33A-2007]

CLAUSE 5

1. On page 3, in line 52, after "In respect of' to omit "the"

2. On page 4, in line 1, after "mathematics and" to omit "biology" and to substitute "life sciences"

3. On page 4, in line 4, to insert a new (ix):

"(ix) perimeter security"

4. On page 4, in line 15, after mathematics and" to omit "biology" and to substitute "life sciences"

CLAUSE 7

1. On page 5, in line 13, after "one" to insert "adult".

2. On page 5, after line 13, to insert a new "(d)":

"( d) be done if it does not extent to a search of a body cavity of the learner. "

3. On page 5, in line 43, after "one" to insert "adult".

4. On page 5, in line 43, after "present" to omit "but in view of the learner".

5. On page 5 in line 49 after "one" to insert "working".

CLAUSE 8

1. On page 6, in line 25, after the "Head of Department" to insert "on a date determined by him of her" .

"(v) The Head of Department may extend the date contemplated ill subparagraph (iv) on good cause shown".

"(4) A principal may not, on behalf of the governing body, give evidence against the Minister, Member of the Executive Councilor Head of Department unless

(i) the court of law directs otherwise; or

(ii) the principal is not required to be a witness on behalf of the Minister, the Member of the Executive Councilor Head of Department. "

CLAUSE 15

1. On page 10, in line 25, to omit "(b)" and to substitute:

"(b) the substitution in subsection (3)(c) for subparagraphs (v) and (vi) of the following paragraphs:

"(v) [technikon] university of technology principals;

(vi) [higher education] further education and training college principals;"
