Report of the Select Committee on Social Services on the Nursing Bill [B 26B – 2005 (Reprint)] (National Assembly) – sec 75), dated 30 November 2005:

The Select Committee on Social Services, having considered the subject of the Nursing Bill [B 26B – 2003], referred to it and classified by the Joint Tagging Mechanism as a section 75, reports the Bill with proposed amendments, as follows:

CLAUSE 18

1. On page 11, from line 38, to omit "such further period as the Minister finds appropriate" and to substitute "one further term not exceeding five years".

CLAUSE 40

2. On page 20, from line 10, to omit subsection (1) and to substitute:

A person who is a citizen of South Africa intending to register for the first time to practise a profession in a prescribed category must perform remunerated community service for a period of one year at a public health facility.
