Letter from the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Development dated 26 October 2005 to the Speaker of the National Assembly, in terms of section 65(2)(a) of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No 1 of 1999), explaining the delay in the tabling of the Annual Report of the Legal Aid Board for 2004-2005:

I write to furnish reasons in terms of Section 65(2) of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) for the delay in the tabling of the Legal Aid Board Annual Report to Parliament. In terms of Section 65(1) of the PFMA, all Executive Authorities are required to table their Annual Reports and those of the entities under their responsibility, financial statements and the Auditor-General’s report on the financial statements by the 30^th September.

Although proofs of the Legal Aid Board Annual Report were submitted to my office at the beginning of September 2005, the deadline for submission could not be met as required due to delays encountered during the printing of copies for tabling in Parliament.

The Annual Report of the Board will be tabled on 28 October 2005.
