Report of the Portfolio Committee on Minerals and Energy on Report No 30 of the Public Protector of South Africa, constituted in terms of section 182(1)(b) of the Constitution, 1996, and section 8(2)(b) of the Public Protector Act, 1994, dated 31 August 2005:

The Portfolio Committee on Minerals and Energy, having considered the matter on the Report of the Public Protector on an Investigation into an Allegation of Misappropriation of Public Funds by the Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa, Trading as PetroSA, and Matters Allegedly Related Thereto, reports as follows:

The Committee is satisfied with the investigative processes followed and outlined in the report;

Is satisfied that consultative processes had taken place between the Public Protector and implicated parties;

And supports the key findings and recommendations contained in the Report.

The Committee, in terms of its oversight function over the Central Energy Fund (CEF), undertakes to follow up on the processes PetroSA has in place to ensure that the outstanding amount owed by Imvume is recovered.
