Brief Introduction of Economic Affairs Committee

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF ECONOMIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

The Committee of Economic Affairs is one of the standing committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference ( CPPCC ) . The main mission of the Committee is to carry out investigations and research on matters that fall within the purview of the Committee, such as some issues pertaining to the economic policies adopted by the Central Government of China and the new developments in economy and society, and then make recommendations concerning them to the State Council of the Chinese Government.

The Committee of Economic Affairs is composed of a Chairman, 19 Vice Chairmen and 65 members, who come from different sectors, such as governments, economic institutes, trade unions, public enterprises and welfare sectors. Their investigation areas cover agriculture, industry, finance and trade etc.

The Chairman presides over the Committee's meetings and directs its work. The Vice Chairmen assist the Chairman in his work.

The Committee has a bureau-level administrative office, which is responsible for the routine work of the Committee.
