NEGOTIATING MANDATE

EDUCATION LAWS AMENDMENT BILL [B23B-2005]

The Portfolio Committee on Education, Culture, Sports, Recreation, met on the 13 October 2005 for the briefing by the permanent delegate of the National Council of Provinces on the Education Laws Amendment Bill (B23B-2005) (the Bill).

After consideration of the Bill, the Committee agreed to the proposed amendments and supports the Bill as it stands.

Notwithstanding the fact that the Bill must clarify the role of the Principal vs the HOD, and the SGB on matters dealing with the running or managing the school.

The permanent delegates representing the Province of Mpumalanga in the National Council of provinces are conferred with authority and mandated to vote in favour of the Bill.
