Commentary Patents Amendment Bill [B 17-200]

As a response to the advertisement in the Rapport of 10 July 2005 concerning the above Bill, I will be pleased if you will receive my written Submission on this issue.

Motivation

I would like to see a "idea register" to be held at Patent Attorney's offices where people with ideas can register these ideas as their intellectual property and secure their interest in such an idea, at no cost or very little cost.

The reason for this is that I believe there is a lot of people with good ideas, but due to a shortage of money and capital, is not in a position to register a patent or do any development on the idea. Thus, the idea remains in their minds as they feel that they cannot trust people if they should reveal their ideas to them for development.

The Patent Attorney may then market these registered ideas to developers and if an interested developer is found, the process can be enhanced in collaboration with the registered owner and holder of the idea and intellectual property.

Personally I am sitting with some ideas that I believe can make a huge contribution to community, but due to a lack of funds these ideas will only remain ideas.

Thanks for the opportunity
