ASSUMPTIONS
1. Free Water is based on a tariff of R 1.28 per kilolitre multiplied by 6 free units of water. The amount reflects the cost of the free water to Council.
2. Free Electricity is based on the electricity tariff multiplied by the number of free units granted.
3.Rebates : assessment rates had been calculated based on actual figures of 2004/2005-06-23
4. Infrastructure Levy : The HH’s are calculated on a tariff of R 46, 00
5. The indigent subsidy shall remain R 85,00 per month for the medium term, as stated by the Indigent Policy document.
***The equitable share of R 16 347 000 stated in the Dora of 2004/2005 was erroneously used in our budget instead of the R20 820 000 allocated as per the Division of Revenue Bill for 2005/2006.
DESCRIPTION OF EACH FREE SERVICE FREE WATER:
FREE WATER : First 6KL of water free for all HH's on a monthly basis
FREE ELECTRICITY: All HH's with a 20 Amp connection receive 50 kWh free electricity.
ASSESSMENT RATES: Property with valuation of less than R50 000.00 are exempted from paying rates.
REFUSE REMOVAL (85/2): All HH's with an income of R0 - R1 480 can apply for a subsidy grant of R42.50
SEWERAGE (85/2): All-HH's with an income of R0 - R1 480 can apply for a subsidy grant of R42.50
Free electricity is also provided by ESKOM to 794 households in the Saron area. The amount of R 192 038.76 is reimbursed by the municipality through the equitable share.
