3. Elected Committee Chairperson on 12 May 2004.

4. Adopted a committee business plan, programme and budget on 26 May,

2004.

5. Met to discuss the Housing Budget Vote 29 on 27 May 2004.

  1. Received a Strategic Plan and Budget Vote briefing from the National Department of Housing on 2 June 2004.
  2. Held a bosberaad on the Committee Business Plan and committee programme on 2-3 August 2004.
  3. Met with Women in Housing in its attempt to build a house for a vulnerable woman on 11 August 2004.
  4. Undertook a National Housing Imbizo in khayelitsha convened by the Western Cape Housing Department on 11 August 2004.
  5. Received a briefing from Statistics South Africa on Strategies on Alleviating Poverty on 18 August 2004.
  6. Committee members attended the Johannesburg +2 Summit (WSSD) between 30 June to 4 July 2004.
  7. Received the new Comprehensive Plan from the Minister of Housing on 9 September 2004.
  8. Visited Gauteng province from the 11th- 15th October 2004.
  9. Held public hearings with Housing Institutions on the 2nd and 3rd November 2004.
  10. Received a workshop from the National Department of Housing on the New Comprehensive Plan on 17 November 2004.
  11. Committee members participated in the Kenneth Kaunda Work Project to build a "Women for Housing & Partners" house in Mamelodi, on 22-26 November 2004.
