Regulations

19. The Minister may, after consultation with the board and the Council. and by notice in the Gazette, make regulations [regarding] in respect of


(a) the proceedings [and jurisdiction] of the statutory ombud [and limitations on the jurisdiction of the statutory ombud in respect of the type and category of complaints not justiciable by the statutory ombud, including limitations on amounts involved in justiciable complaints;]


(b) the limitations on the jurisdiction of the statutory ombud, having regard to:

(i) the factual or legal complexity of any complaint dealt with by the statutory ombud;

(ii) the nature of the client whose complaint is dealt with by the statutory ombud;

(iii) the maximum amount involved in the dispute between. the client and the financial institution;

(iv) the legal relationship between the client whose complaint is to be dealt with, and the financial institution.


(b) any matter which in terms of this Act is required or permitted to be prescribed; and

(c) any other matter which it is necessary [or expedient] to prescribe in order to achieve the objects of this Act.
