• The number of workplace skills plans submitted has increased steadily since the inception of the SETA.

• Sector Skills Facilitators (SSFs) assist member companies with:

• Service paid for by the SETA - no charge to companies -

• Abrid~d WSP and Implementation Report formats have been made available to SMMEs

Increase SMME participation in the skills development strategy

Increase accessibility for SMMEs to skills development processes such as accreditation / leamership implementation

Extend the SETA'S reach to companies inthe non-metro areas.

• Extend accreditation services to the FET and non-formal sectors

• Make accreditation more accessible to companies in the sector. Current processes are bureaucratic and costly and not tailored to the needs of the workplace

• Address the delay of processes (such a5 registration of qualifications) at SAQA through participation in national forums.

Governance - Successes

• The CTFL SETA Council governs the SETA. It consists of an equal number of representatives from registered employer and labour organisations in the sector. The Council and its committees as functioned in line with the SETA constitution since inception

• The Council determines the strategic direction of the SETA

• The Exco (appointed from members of Council) controls the operational day-to-day management

f the SETA

• Chamber Councils oversee the functioning of the three Chambers in the SETA.
