REPORT OF THE SELECT COMMITTEE ON LABOUR AND PUBLIC ENTERPRISES, DATED 25 JUNE 2003:

THE SELECT COMMITTEE ON LABOUR AND PUBLIC ENTERPRISES, HAVING HELD A STRATEGIC PLANNING MEETING ON 14 APRIL 2003, REPORTS AS FOLLOWS:
VISION AND MISSION

The primary functions of the Select Committee on Labour and Public Enterprises are to:
represent constituencies and their interests;
provide political oversight of the work of the Departments of Labour, of Public Enterprises and of Communications; and,
debate, amend and approve the policies and legislation proposed by the above departments.

Thus, the Mission of the Select Committee can be stated as follows:
To engage with the Departments of Labour, of Public Enterprises and of Communications on behalf of the provinces to ensure that in the implementation of their work programmes, as well as in the design and writing of policies and legislation, the needs and interests of provinces are taken into account and expressed.
