        1. MISSION: According to the Rules of the National Assembly, the PC on Labour, like other portfolio committees, must deal with bills and other matters falling within its portfolio as referred to it by the National Assembly or in terms of legislation. It may hold a public hearing on a particular matter and may amend legislation. The Committee must maintain oversight of the relevant Ministry and Department. It may make recommendations concerning any organ of state, constitutional institution or other body or institution.

 

    1. VISION: The PC on Labour set out to step up its level of oversight of institutions falling within its portfolio during 2003 once it had finalised the legislation for the year.
    2. OBJECTIVES: To focus more on overseeing the implementation of legislation.
    3. To ensure that departmental goals and programmes are undertaken to create the needed synergy and efficiency.

      To monitor compliance with the PFMA

      To undertake a number of international and national study visits.
