Mission

Provide an effective and efficient aid in the prevention, combating and investigation of crime.
- Provide specialised policing services, police training, police dogs and horses on a national and
international level, through professional service and dedicated Research & Development.
- Play a leading role in:

Purpose of Training
- Tracker dogs
= Scent identification
= Follow tracks of suspects

- Search & Rescue dogs
= Search for lost persons. find bodies or parts of bodies in disaster areas or crime scenes, locate drowned persons

- Patrol dogs
= Search for & Apprehend suspects
= Search for exhibits

- Explosives dogs
= Detect military & commercial explosives bombs, firearms and ammunition

- Narcotics dogs
= Detect cannabis, mandrax, heroin, cocaine & amphetamines

- Specialised dogs
= Sheepdogs: counting of sheep (stock theft cases)
= Gold Concentrate dogs: detect stolen gold concentrate
= Fire Investigation dogs: detect accelerant in arson cases
= Protected Species dogs: detect abelone, crayfish, rhino horn and ivory

- Tactical Policing
= Tactical training of police officials (National)

- Visual Tracking
= Following of tracks of suspects, lost persons, stock (National, Stock Theft Units, special Task Force, Crime Combating Units)
