Letter from the Minister of Education to the Speaker, tabled in terms of section 65(2)(a) of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No 1 of 1999), explaining the delay in the tabling of the Annual Report of the Council on Higher Education:
Dear Madam
Traditionally, the Council on Higher Education (CHE) released their Annual Report during their Consultative Conference scheduled for November of each year. They planned to do the same this year without realising that they are contravening the reporting requirements of the PFMA. They apologised for this oversight and committed themselves to rectify this shortcoming. The CHE Annual Report will be tabled in Parliament by 29 November 2002.
I can confirm that all the requirements were met concerning timeous submission of the financial statements to the Auditor-General and the auditing of the financial records and statements by the Auditor-General.
