Report of the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development on Suspension and Removal from Office of Mr R M Nongena, Additional Magistrate, Humansdorp, dated 25 September 2002:
The Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development, in view thereof that the Magistrates Commission, due to the judgement in the case of Van Rooyen and Others v the State and Others 2002 (8) BCLR 810 (CC), is in the process of arranging an urgent disciplinary hearing to be conducted at which Mr R M Nongena will have the opportunity to respond to all the charges preferred against him, recommends that the House take no further action at this point in time.
