Re: INVESTIGATION AND CALLING TO ACCOUNT DR G.R. ORIANI-AMBROSINI

As Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs and as part of our oversight role, I am seriously concerned about the activities of Dr. Oriani-Ambrosini who is a special Advisor to our Minister, Dr M G Buthelezi.

Our concern emanates from the recent wide spread media report to the effect that the said gentleman was involved in the affairs of Traditional Leaders, in respect of their complaints, grievances on demarcation, etc. and their powers in the forth-coming municipal elections.

What we do not understand and appreciate is:
(a) To whom is Dr Oriani-Ambrosini accountable?
(b) What are his ACTUAL duties?
(c) What is his job-description (elaboration on (b)?
(d) What is the scope of his work?
(e) Who asked him to be involved in the affairs of Traditional Leaders?
(f) Who pays for involvement in extramural activities referred to under (e)?
(g) Who pays him and how much?
(h) Is there ANY RELATIONSHIP between or relevance to his involvement with Traditional Leaders and the work of Home Affairs?

NB SCOPA is free to ask him any other questions.
