Final resolution [B102-97]
1. The Committee requests the Minister of Justice to direct his Department to investigate all legal aspects of credit bureaux in South Africa, including the procedure pertaining to the abandoning and rescission of judgments, and to report to Parliament on the progress in this matter during the first quarter of 1999.

2. The Committee also urges the Department of Trade and Industry, in view of continuous problems regarding the "blacklisting" of persons by credit bureaux, to find way to regulate this matter satisfactorily as a matter of the utmost urgency, and to report to Parliament on the progress in this matter during the first quarter of 1999.

3. During the consideration of the Bill, the Committee raised the question whether or not a fidelity fund should be established for debt collectors. The Committee did not have sufficient time to consider this matter comprehensively, but recommends that the Department of Justice investigate this matter and report back to Parliament as soon as possible.

Report to be considered.
