APPOINTMENT OF JUDGE TO INDEPENDENT ELECTORAL COMMISSION

SUMMARY
The Committee voted to ratify the nomination of the candidate, Judge H Msimang, to serve on the Independent Electoral Commission.

MINUTES
The candidate’s nomination had been submitted to the Committee members previously, by a panel formed of the President of the Constitutional Court, the Public Protector and representatives of the Human Rights Commission and Commission on Gender Equality.

The chairperson decided that, as members had been in possession of the nomination and CV of Judge H Msimang, and he had received no objections to Msimang serving on the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), they could put the matter straight to a vote

Mr M Sibande (ANC) Seconded the Nomination.

The Committee voted to ratify the Nomination.
