ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON
Minutes
The committee facilitator requested, in terms of Rule 129 of the National Assembly Rules, nominations for the position of Chairperson. Mr D Olifant (ANC) nominated Mr Y Carrim of the ANC and it was seconded by another ANC member. As there were no further nominations, Mr Carrim was duly elected as Chairperson.
The newly elected Chairperson, Mr Carrim, in his address to the committee said that many responsibilities will remain the same as the then Constitutional Affairs Portfolio Committee. He said that the new committee would have to focus on the progress of provincial and local government.
The new members were welcomed and it was announced that the final committee would be finalised within a week.
Since there were no further matters to discuss the meeting was closed.
