AGENDA: 1. Adoption of the Report on Study Tour to Malaysia
The Chairperson opened the meeting and welcomed members present. Mr N M Raju expressed the view that it was unfair that alternate members should be asked to attend so that the Committee could form a quorum when other members who had been on study tours did not make themselves available for Committee meetings.
Consideration of the Report on study tour to Malaysia:
Members felt that the report was well written and promptly done. The Committee Secretary was thanked for this and for his general attitude towards members.
Two small changes that the Committee had required, had been effected and, for this reason, the Report was adopted unanimously.
It was suggested that the seven recommendations in the Report be posed as motions without notice in the first sitting of the Council that was to follow this meeting.
It was also suggested that the Report be sent to the Departments of Agriculture and Trade and Industry, and that there should be interaction between the Committee and the Departments on the basis of this Report, so that the recommendations in the report could be followed up.
General:
It was suggested that the Committee should review its method of planning study tours so that unnecessary tensions and problems could be avoided.
Conclusion:
The Chairperson thanked members for their attendance and adjourned the meeting at 11:40.
