Standing Committee on Appropriations

The Standing Committee on Appropriations (National Assembly) invites you to make written and/or oral submissions on the 2023 Appropriation Bill (the Bill). The Bill was tabled with the 2023/24 national budget by the Minister of Finance on 22 February 2023. The Money Bills Amendment Procedure and Related Matters Amendment Act, Act No 13 of 2018 requires Parliament to conduct public hearings and to report on all Bills.

The Bill seeks to appropriate money from the National Revenue Fund for the requirements of the State for the 2023/24 financial year; to prescribe conditions for the spending of funds withdrawn for the 2024/25 financial year before the commencement of the Appropriation Act for the 2024/25 financial year; and to provide for matters incidental thereto.

Public hearings on the Bill will be conducted via the Zoom virtual media platform on Wednesday, 24 May 2023. The closing date to make written submissions or indicate your intention to make an oral presentation is at 16:00 on Monday, 22 May 2022;
