Standing Committee on Appropriations
The Standing Committee on Appropriations (National Assembly) invites you to make written and/or oral submissions on the 2022 Appropriation Bill and the 2022 Second Adjustments Appropriation (2021/22 financial year) Bill. The said Bills that were tabled together with the 2022/23 National Budget by the Minister of Finance on 23 February 2022. The Money Bills Amendment Procedure and Related Matters Amendment Act, Act No 13 of 2018 requires Parliament to conduct public hearings and to report on all Bills.
The Appropriation Bill seeks to:
• appropriate money from the National Revenue Fund for the requirements of the State for the 2022/23 financial year;
• prescribe conditions for the spending of funds withdrawn for the 2022/23 financial year before the commencement of the Appropriation Act for 2022/23; and to provide for matters incidental thereto.
The Second Adjustments Appropriation (2021/22 financial year) Bill seeks to:
•effect adjustments to the appropriation of money from the National Revenue Fund for expenditure approved in the 2021/22 financial year; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
Public hearings on the abovementioned Bills will be conducted via virtual media platforms by the Standing Committee on Appropriations as follows:
• 2022 Appropriation Bill: Tuesday, 31 May 2022 - closing date to make written submissions or indicate your intention to make an oral presentation is at 16:00 on Friday, 20 May 2022;
• 2022 Second Adjustments Appropriation (2021/22 financial year) Bill: Wednesday, 1 June 2022 - closing date to make written submissions or indicate your intention to make an oral presentation is at 16:00 on Friday, 20 May 2022.
