Parliament launches Independent Advisory Panel to assess impact of legislation in accelerating change and transformation

On 19 January 2016, Parliament announced the launch of Independent Advisory Panel on the ‘Acceleration of Change and Transformation'. The key purpose of the panel is to assess the efficacy of legislation against these four areas:

  • The Triple Challenges of Poverty, Unemployment and Inequality;
  • The Creation of and equitable distribution of Wealth;
  • Land reform, restitution, redistribution and security of tenure;
  • Nation Building and Social Cohesion.

The Panel will conduct its work through public consultations across the country which will include public outreach and other research processes such as:

  • Calls for submissions;
  • Provincial outreach; and
  • Public hearings.

The panel will synthesise its findings from the public outreach and all the evidence that has been collected and will make recommendations and submit its Final Report to the Speakers’ Forum in 12 months.
